Apps4med: Workshops, presentations and a contest for mHealth applications
“Apps4Med” is an event organized for the first time by the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) and Computer Society (CS) of the IEEE National Technical University of Athens Student Branch (IEEE NTUA SB).
“Apps4Med” will feature workshops on Android and Windows Phone mobile applications development, a series of talks regarding mobile applications with a focus on mobile health (mHealth) delivered by researchers and company representatives as well as a 24-hour hackathon, where students and young developers will develop their own mHealth apps. This event aims at educating, motivating and familiarizing students with mobile app development and encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship.
“Apps4Med” will include:
- Introductory workshops on Android and Windows Phone mobile applications development by experienced young developers (25-26/10/2014).
- Presentations about mHealth applications. Speakers from academia will cover the current status and trends in the field of mobile health applications, whilst innovative mobile applications will be presented by renowned local companies and startups (30/10/2014).
- The “Apps4Med” Hackathon. Participants will form teams and build within 24 hours an innovative and useful mobile health application using the platform (Android or Windows Phone) of their choice (1/11/2014).
- Closing Ceremony. The best teams, as they will be selected by a panel of experts, will have the opportunity to present their apps and the winning team will be announced within the framework of the 4th International Conference on Mobile Wireless Communication for Healthcare, MobiHealth 2014 (http://mobihealth.name) (4/10/2014).
