Sofia D. Karamintziou received her Diploma (MSc) Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) (2000-2005), her Interdisciplinary MSc Degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of Patras & National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) (2007-2009), and her Ph.D. Degree from NTUA (2010-2015), under the supervision of Professor Konstantina S. Nikita. Her research interests have lied in the fields of Computational Neuroscience and Νeural Εngineering with a focus on the development of data-driven stochastic models for the optimization of electrical deep brain stimulation (DBS) in advanced Parkinson's disease (PD) and treatment-refractory obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Part of her research has been conducted in collaboration with Grenoble Institute of Neurosciences (INSERM-U836/Olivier David, PhD). She is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the ΙΕΕΕ-Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) and the American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (ASSFN).
